Paper Doll Series:

We do not know much about paper dolls themselves, except the labels they have been given and the Posh Dollclothes that define them. You have the power to dress them in only the attire provided.

I have decided to use paper dolls as my template in this series to portray the way we give out judgements based on people’s clothing. Whether they set out for these
sterotypes or not, they are fixed in these roles like the paper dolls are.

What people wear says a lot about who they are to the people that do not know them. Onlookers have the choice to trap them in a sterotype that can be hard to reverse. In these paintings I play with the contrast between the realism of myself as a person and the roles I am made to play by the cartoon-like cutouts I am given.
